			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On September 14th we received a letter from the Kentucky Heritage Council stating that the Mt Pleasant Baptist Church and the Sadieville Rosenwald School are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places under criterion A for their association with the history of African-American education, religion, and society in the early twentieth century Sadieville.</p>
<p>We will now make plans to proceed with the nomination of the two structures and have been developing plans for preservation and continued use.</p>

<p>Friends of the Sadieville Renaissance, Inc. has been working hard to save the Mt Pleasant Baptist Church and Rosenwald School located on the same property. They have been working with the City Commission, Ky Heritage Council, Scott County Historians, Ky Historical Society, Architechtural Historian, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, Preservation Kentucky and an architect from Lexington, KY. It is a collaborative effort to save and restore the African American church that was built in the late 1800&#8217;s and the Rosenwald School that was built in the early 1900&#8217;s. <p>The &#8220;Friends&#8221; received a $1,200.00 grant from the Kentucky Humanities Council for the Nicodemus-Sadieville Connection Project. Angela Bates, Executive Director of the Nicodemus Historical Society came to Sadieville and gave a public presentation about our connection to Nicodemus, Kansas at the 125th Anniversary of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church on Sunday, December 13th following the Historical Highway Marker Dedication at 2:00 pm. . She also gave a presentation at the Scott County Museum at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 12th. A MILLION THANKS TO THE KENTUCKY HUMANITIES COUNCIL FOR GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO TELL OUR STORY!</p>
<p>We are applying for another Humanities Grant to continue research on who the Emigrants were that left from Sadieville on September 5, 1877. Zanne Jeffries will present the findings of her research on Saturday, April 17th at Sadieville City Hall.</p>
<p>New Board of Directors are: Jamie Donovan-Chair, Cindy Foster-Vice Chair, Sandi Christensen-Sec./Treasurer, other members-Rachel Southworth, Phyllis Morris, Omer Lee and Virgil Marshall. The Board will meet quarterly with dates tentatively for January 28th, April 22nd, July 22nd and October 21st.</p>

Investigations are underway regarding alternative solutions such as installing a liner that will prevent leaks until the plant is retired or replaced. For now, the plant is operating within regulatory requirements. The collection system continues to be something of a problem but as each problem surfaces, proper actions are promptly taken to ensure continued operation of a safe system.<span> </span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="'Book Antiqua';">Sewer Improvement Project:</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="'Book Antiqua';">Progress continues with the Sadieville Sewer Improvement Project.<span> </span>This $5.5 million, 3-phase project will replace all obsolete sewer collection lines, upgrade existing pumping stations, retire the aging Wastewater Treatment Plant and expand sewer service to the KY-32/I-75 interchange over the next 18 months. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="0in 0in 0pt;"> </p>
<p><span style="'Book Antiqua';">The current project schedule is as follows:</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="-0.25in;"><span style="Wingdings;"><span>§<span style="none;"> </span></span></span><span style="'Book Antiqua';">Preliminary Engineering was completed in October, 2005.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="-0.25in;"><span style="Wingdings;"><span>§<span style="none;"> </span></span></span><span style="'Book Antiqua';">The Engineering Design for Phases I and II are complete, and the final steps are being taken to take this part of the project to the bidding phase. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="-0.25in;"><span style="Wingdings;"><span>§<span style="none;"> </span></span></span><span style="'Book Antiqua';">Advertisement and bidding for project construction activities will begin in November, 2007 and be completed 30-60 days thereafter.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="-0.25in;"><span style="Wingdings;"><span>§<span style="none;"> </span></span></span><span style="'Book Antiqua';">Construction is projected to begin in the spring of 2008, and will continue for about 12 months.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="-0.25in;"><span style="Wingdings;"><span>§<span style="none;"> </span></span></span><span style="'Book Antiqua';">Project closeout is scheduled for early 2009.<span> </span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="'Book Antiqua';">Funding for two phases of the project has been secured and additional avenues have been opened that, if successful, should provide sufficient funding to complete the project resulting in improved sewer service to all citizens of Sadieville and open the I-75/KY 32 interchange to commercial and residential development.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="0in 0in 0pt;"><strong><span style="underline;"><span style="'Book Antiqua';">STORM WATER MANAGEMENT</span></span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="'Book Antiqua';">For the first time, Storm Water Management activities will be included as a line item in the City budget.<span> </span>The FY 2007-2008 budget contains limited funding for selected small projects designed to improve the management of storm water runoff throughout the city.<span> P</span>rojects include: minor improvements to Main Street to help direct and control runoff; improvements along KY 32 to help direct water away from homes and other buildings; installation and repair of storm drains along Vine Street, and new culverts and road design at the Vine Street, KY 32 intersection.</span></p>

The basement is available for public use for a minimal fee for upkeep and a deposit. The basement has a large community room with a kitchnette and bathroom. There is a private office which houses most of the city&#8217;s permanent documents.</span></p>
